These air-fried Tempeh Chips turn tempeh into a next-level plant-based snack. Quick, simple & loaded with protein!

Tempeh, just like tofu, you either hate it or love it; but it takes just the right seasonings to make you love it. Personally, I never thought about making a snack out of tempeh, but once the idea came to me, I knew I had to give it a try. The result? Tempeh Chips, delicious & full of protein, that will leave your cravings satisfied.
They’re super simple & quick to whip up and have room for you to get creative with the seasonings.
What is tempeh?
Tempeh is a traditional Indonesian product, made from fermented soy, a protein-rich vegetable legume. Very similar to tofu.
Variations to this recipe
- BBQ: salt+pepper+garlic powder+onion powder+paprika+brown sugar
- Cool Ranch: parsley+garlic powder+onion powder+celery salt+chives+black pepper+dill
- Nacho Cheese: salt+nutritional yeast+chili powder+smoked paprika+garlic powder+onion powder
Ingredients
- 8 oz package tempeh
- 2 tbsp avocado oil or olive oil
- Seasonings to taste: onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper
Procedure
- Place tempeh block on your cutting board and thinly slice. Try to make your slices as even as possible.
- Place tempeh slices in a mixing bowl, add oil and all of the seasoning ingredients. Carefully mix until everything is incorporated.
- Air fried: Add seasoned tempeh to the air fryer and cook to 355F for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Baked: Preheat oven to 375°F. Place tempeh slices on a baking tray with parchment paper. Bake for 10 minutes. Flip and bake for another 7-10 minutes or until tempeh is golden brown.
- Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce and ENJOY!
