Vegan Bacon Bits made out of tempeh, savory, smoky, sweet & crunchy. A delicious topping for salads, baked potatoes & pizza.
Vegan | Gluten-Free | Nut-free
When you go vegan, you go through a lot of breakups that you never thought that would happen, like with bacon bits. Although there are vegetarian-friendly bacon bits, there aren’t any vegan-friendly. Luckily, making these is super easy!
Now, I know what you’re thinking… we’ve talked about tempeh before, it has a strong flavor that sometimes it’s pretty hard to mask. But, trust me, it’s all in the seasoning. Another pretty important aspect of this recipe is the crunch! Which is why tempeh works best for this recipe.
You can use these on basically anything: soups, pizzas, salads, veggies, baked potatoes, donuts, pasta, tofu scrambles… you name it! Or just eat it straight out of the container.
Notes:
- Don’t have liquid aminos? Substitute for tamari or soy sauce.
- Increase the spice level by adding cayenne pepper.
- Switch tempeh for Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP).
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
