There are so many great herbs with useful properties that you can grow to create your own herb garden. Did you know that you can grow herbs yourself without paying more for them? Today I’m sharing my top 10 kitchen garden herbs that you can grow, as well as some beginner tips. With the proper care, you’d probably never have to buy these herbs again. 

Fresh herbs are fundamental in our kitchen, as they give a special touch to all the dishes we prepare. Many of them are medicinal plants as well, that provide different nutrients like minerals and vitamins.

Even if you don’t have outdoor gardening space, there are plenty of herbs that you can grow indoors successfully near a window. Not only are these 10 herbs extremely low maintenance, but depending on where you live, some of these may grow all year long.

Some Helpful Tips:

  • Research which herbs grow during specific times of the year, where you live is also a major factor. For example, here in Puerto Rico I grow those 10 herbs all year long.
  • Use food scraps as fertilizer; i.e. veggie & fruit peels. 
  • Growing from seeds requires more attention and time because the way herbs can be harvested varies. So I recommend, growing them from leftovers of the last batch you bought. Just cut a 5-inch stem, strip off the bottom few inches of leaves, place the stem in water, wait for it to root, then plant into pots.
