Vegan white pizza with Alfredo sauce, fresh basil, Italian sausage, garlic, shallots and broccoli, on top of a delicious homemade pizza dough!
Vegan | Soy-free
Alfredo sauce is a very versatile sauce, easy and quick to make, perfectly pairs up with fettuccine. However, that does not mean that we cannot use it in other dishes such as stuffed pasta, mushrooms, scalloped potatoes, pierogies, or pizza.
So it’s really worth showing you how to make this Vegan Italian Sausage White Pizza using my vegan Alfredo Sauce recipe. And because today it’s National Sausage Pizza Day, we’re going to be adding vegan Italian Sausage to the mix, I’m sure you’ll love it!
As I have mentioned in previous blog posts, VeggieJeva’s easy pizza dough, it’s so versatile that you can make a lot of recipes with it; one of them being obviously pizza. But it’s versatility doesn’t only lie on the many things that you can do with it, but also on how you make it. That’s why, for the sake of keeping things interesting, I decided to make this pizza on a cast iron pan and it turned out amazing! The crust ended up being crispy and fluffy at the same time!
The Process
First things first, prepare the dough and set aside to rise for about an hour at room temperature. Then make the cashew alfredo, making sure that it’s creamy and thick. Next, prepare the veggies; for this recipe, I chose broccoli, shallots, garlic & basil. You can sauteé them first or not; chef’s choice.
After you have all of the ingredients ready to go, you can start assembling the pizza. Divide to dough into four equal pieces, and roll them out into perfectly-imperfect circles. This of course depends on how much pizza you want; if you only want one pizza, use one of the four pieces.
However, be advised that this pizza ended up being so good, that we made two pizzas (one for each).
Get creative!
You know by now that I always encourage you to go off-rails and get creative with my recipes. When it comes to pizza, the toppings are essentially unlimited. So feel free to use other herbs & veggies, as well as any other mock-meats that you may like. But I guarantee you that this combo of Alfredo sauce, basil, Italian sausage, garlic, shallots, and broccoli, is heavenly.
Notes:
- I love using Beyond Italian Sausages because they’re a gluten & soy free option. However, there are other brands that offer vegan Italian sausages like Field Roast, Tofurky, and Yves.
- Any leftover dough can be stored in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. It can also be frozen for about 6 months, but note that it takes a long time to thaw.
- Feel free to substitute the shallots for onions.
Recipe: Vegan Italian Sausage White Pizza
Ingredients:
- VeggieJeva’s Pizza Dough
- VeggieJeva’s Creamy Vegan Alfredo Sauce
- 2 Vegan Italian Sausages
- 1 cup broccoli
- 3-5 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 2-4 shallots, sliced
- Handful of fresh herbs: basil, rosemary & oregano
- Seasonings: salt, pepper & garlic powder
- Optional: vegan butter, melted
Procedure:
- Prepare dough according to instructions, and allow to rest & rise for about an hour at room temperature.
- While you wait, prepare the Alfredo sauce according to instructions; making sure that the end result is creamy and thick.
- Then prepare the toppings. Chop up the vegan sausages, broccoli, garlic & shallots. Optional step: if you wish, you can sauteé the broccoli, garlic & shallots with a little bit of vegan butter.
- Once the dough is ready, transfer to a floured surface and knead into a smooth dough. Depending on how many pizzas you want, divide the dough in half for big pizzas, or into four equal pieces for smaller (personal) pizzas.
- Preheat oven to 375F.
- Roll dough into your desired shape and transfer to a prepared pan; this can either be a pizza tray or cast iron pan. Roll about ½ inch of the edges inward to form the crust.
- Then add the alfredo sauce in the center, and spread outward, avoiding the crust. Add the sausages, veggies & herbs, and season lightly with salt, pepper & garlic powder.
- Optional: Mix melted vegan butter with salt & garlic powder, and lightly brush in on the crust.
- Bake on the lower rack of your oven to 375F, for around 25-30 minutes until the crust looks crispy and lightly browned.
- Slice, serve immediately, and ENJOY!
