Today I’m super happy to share with you the first Halloween recipe of the season! No matter if you want to throw a party this year or keep it this year to your close ones, this year I’ve got you covered with some wicked Halloween-themed food.
There’s no trick to this treat. Literally the simplest and easiest snack/appetizer. Celebrate Halloween with these spooktacular homemade Halloween Tortilla Chips.
Nowadays we’re constantly looking for healthier and cheaper alternatives than the commercial versions of those snacks that we love so much. But when it comes to Halloween, there aren’t many commercial options available. This is certainly the case for Halloween Tortilla Chips, so we have to resort to our creativity!
When it comes to making your own tortilla chips, it really couldn’t be easier. Yes, it’s a little more work than grabbing a bag from the aisle BUT, they are beyond delicious. Regular homemade tortilla chips can be made with corn tortillas, however, for this recipe I chose wheat tortillas since they hold their shape better. Ultimately, you can use whichever, but keep in mind that corn tortillas are allergy-friendly.
The result is the same great crunchy texture, but a lot healthier since you have total control over the amount of salt & oil.
Here’s what you’ll need for the Halloween Tortilla Chips:
- Flour or corn tortillas
- Olive oil or avocado oil
- Salt
- Halloween Cookie Cutters
That is literally it! However you can switch things up with the seasoning. Here are other combos you might enjoy:
- Rosemary & garlic powder
- Smoked paprika
- Salt & vinegar
Dipping Sauces:
- Vegan Taco Dip
- Vegan Queso y Guayaba Dip
- Vegan Caramelized Onion Dip
- Garlic & Herb Dip
- Vegan Chicken Dip (Dip de Pollo)
Notes:
- Reduce waste! Cut the offcuts of the tortillas into other shapes and cook them along with the others.
- Gluten-free? Use corn tortillas! They tend to be thinner and come out a little crispier.
